Colobraro

Colobraro is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Colobraro 1334 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The place is 86 km west of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Noepoli (PZ ), Rotondella, Sant'Arcangelo (PZ ), Senise (PZ ), Tursi and Valsinni.

The exact founding year of Colobraro is not known. The place was built in the vicinity of the monastery of the Basilian St. Mary of Ceronofio. The town's name is derived from Coluber snake.
