Carasco

Carasco ( Ligurian Karàscu, Kaàscu or Carasco ) is an Italian commune in the province of Genoa with 3704 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

The location of the village is conventionally indicated with the lower portion of the valley Fontanabuona. However, the territory of Carasco comprises mainly the valley crossing the Valle Sturla and Val Graveglia. Together with 16 other local forms Carasco the Comunità Montana Fontanabuona.

Carasco is crossed by three rivers Lavagna, Sturla and Graveglia, the first two of which form the river Entella in the course, which flows into the Ligurian Sea between the coastal towns of Lavagna and Chiavari.

The toponym derives from the words of the community car ( German: head, chief, principal) and asco ( German: Water skiing) back and refers to the geographical location of the first settlement, should arise from the Carasco.
