Corcelle-Mieslot

Corcelle - Mieslot is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Corcelle - Mieslot is located at 260 m, about 18 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the valley of the Ruisseau de la Corcelle, south of Ognon, at the edge of the extreme north-western mountain ranges of the Jura.

The area of ​​6.42 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the Doubs and Ognon. The central part of the area occupied by the wide valley of the Ruisseau de la Corcelle, which provides for drainage north to the Ognon. The valley to the east is flanked by the hills of the Bois de la Cote du Mont from the ridge of the Bois de Fays, which forms the north-eastern foothills of the ridge of the Grande Côte ( to 340 m) and in the West. Here the highest elevation of Corcelle - Mieslot is achieved with 444 m.

Neighboring communities of Corcelle - Mieslot are Rigney and Rignosot in the north, La Tour -de- Sçay and Pouligney - Lusans the east and Chaudefontaine in the southwest.

History

In the Middle Ages belonged Corcelle and Mieslot to rule La Roche sur- l'Ognon. Together with the Franche -Comté reached both villages with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. The two towns merged in 1823 to the municipality Corcelle - Mieslot. Today Corcelle - Mieslot part of the community association Communauté de communes de la Bussière.

Population

With 109 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Corcelle - Mieslot is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 116 people were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Corcelle - Mieslot was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
