Daniel Girardi

Daniel Girardi ( born April 29, 1984 in Welland, Ontario ) is an Italian- Canadian professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Girardi began his career in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts, Guelph Storm and the London Knights. With Guelph and London, he was able to win the championship in each of the OHL in 2004 and 2005. He also won in his last junior year with the Knights in the traditional Memorial Cup.

After his junior time the defender moved ungedraftet to the Charlotte Checkers in the ECHL. After just seven games took him the Hartford Wolf Pack, the American Hockey League farm team of the New York Rangers, under contract. Through a very good season in Hartford, where he was appointed to the All- Rookie team, he received a contract with the Rangers. Since the mid- season 2006/ 07 he is an integral part of the New York squad.
