Dobretići

Dobretići is a municipality in the north of the Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was created by the specified in the Treaty of Dayton entities border which divided the municipality Skender Vakuf. The larger, northern part is now part of Republika Srpska and is called Kneževo.

Geography

The community Dobretići located 10 km northeast of Jajce. It is between 500 and 1400 m on the northeastern slope of Rânca mountain range between the main ridge and the river Ugar. The terrain is mountainous and densely forested.

Dobretići is bounded by the municipalities Kneževo in the Northeast, the South and Travnik Jajce in the southwest.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the four village communities Dobretići, Davidovici, Kričići and Melina.

History

During the Bosnian war, the territory of the present municipality Dobretići belonged to the main battle area. Nearly all buildings were severely damaged or completely destroyed; the south of the municipality is also mined.

Population

The last reliable data on population are from 1991 At that time the church today had 4942 inhabitants.; it is 4720 ( 95.5 %) designated as Croats, 158 (3.2%) than Serbs and 64 (1.3%) than members of other ethnic groups.

Nearly all residents were expelled during the Bosnian war. 1999 it was again 250 people in their homes, most of them Croats. The census of 2013 showed a population of about 2,000.

Economy

The community Dobretići is one of the poorest and most backward areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Larger farms or controlled economic structures do not exist.

Transport and Infrastructure

The community is connected only by narrow mountain roads with the nearest larger towns. Some villages are cut off in winter from the outside world.

There is neither a comprehensive drinking water supply, sewerage or even connection to the district heating network.
