Drew Doughty

Drew Doughty ( born December 8, 1989 in London, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defender, who plays for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League since 2008.

Career

Drew Doughty began his career in 2004 at the London Junior Knights in the age group of under 16 years of Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario ( MHAO ). The following year, he moved to the Guelph Storm in the OHL junior league after they selected him in the OHL Priority Selection draft in fifth position. Doughty developed in his first year at the best defender of his team, with whom he moved to the Conference finals of the playoffs and he prepared 13 goals in 14 playoff games.

2006/ 07 Doughty got the best offensive defenders of the league, was his team's leading scorer with 74 points in 67 games and finished second in the ranking of the best defenders in the OHL point second place. In April 2007, he participated with the Canadian national team at the U18 World Junior Championships, where she failed, however, in the semifinals and lost the match for the bronze medal. In the OHL, he again showed very good performance, scored 13 goals in 58 league games and 37 assists and was awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the best defender in the league.

After the season, the NHL Entry Draft 2008 was held and he was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round in second place, after the Scouts of the NHL had already taken him to their ranking on the second place of the most talented North American players born. On 11 August 2008 Doughty finally signed his first three- year contract with the Kings and was located in the NHL squad recommend for a starting berth.

Already in the 2008/ 09 season he won a regular place in the Kings and stood in 81 games in action, shooting 6 goals, 21 assists and was collected 27 points.
