East Germany at the 1968 Winter Olympics

The GDR participated in the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble for the first time with its own delegation in part and finished 10th in the medal standings. The East German team consisted of 57 athletes, 45 men and 12 women. The luger Thomas Köhler was chosen as the flag bearer of the East German team for the opening ceremony. The GDR started doing the last time under the black-red- gold flag with white Olympic rings in the middle, as the team of the FRG. At the bobsled race was attended by no GDR athletes.
