François Baroin

François Baroin ( born June 21, 1965 in Paris ) is a French politician and former journalist. From June 29 2011 to 15 May 2012, he was Finance Minister ( Ministre de l' Économie, des Finances et de l'Industrie ), replacing Christine Lagarde.

Biography

Baroin began his journalistic career in politics editorial staff of the station Europe 1 From 1987 to 1988 he was commissioner of the chairman of a committee whose task consisted in the preparation of the celebrations to commemorate the 200 anniversary of the French Revolution.

He was elected to the party RPR member of the Municipal Council of Nogent -sur -Seine in 1989, 1993 deputies of the National Assembly, and Finally, in 1995 the mayor of Troyes.

In the same year he appointed Alain Juppé in his capacity as Prime Minister to Minister of State and his press secretary. After Juppe not confirmed him a few months later at a restructuring of the government in these offices he was representative of the President, and retained the post until he again won a parliamentary seat in 1997.

In 2002, Baroin moved to the elections again for the Aube department in the National Assembly. In the meantime, he had joined the newly formed party UMP connected within which he held the office of Deputy Secretary-General, chaired by Alain Juppé.

Since June 2, 2005, he was in the government of Dominique de Villepin, Minister of issues of overseas territories ( ' Ministre de l' Outre- mer ') and changed on 26 March 2007 to the post of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy resigned, the was elected as president in the presidential election on 6 May 2007.

On March 22, 2010, he was designated as Budget Minister ( Ministre du Budget) in the government of François Fillon and followed Éric Woerth.
