Fraunhoferstraße

Metro Station Fraunhoferstrasse is a station of the U1 and U2 of the Munich subway. Since December 12, 2011 also holds the gain line U7, which only runs in the morning rush hour. It is located in Isarvorstadt District, right under Fraunhoferstrasse. The station runs in a north-westerly and south-easterly direction with outputs for Klenzestraße and to Baaderstrasse. The southern entrance is located near the Reichenbach bridge extending over the river Isar.

The station was opened on 18 October 1980 and is named after the optician and physicist Joseph von Fraunhofer. Because of the proximity to the Isar, the station was ascended in shield tunneling in two single tubes. These are connected to each other in the station area, which is why the station is characterized by thick pillars which are covered with small, yellow mosaic tiles.

At the subway station is connected to the tram lines 17 and N27.
