History

The mountain settlements of the Zillertal, including joining a mountain, go back to agricultural colonization in the Middle Ages, when the valley was no longer sufficient for the management. Documented first mentioned Fügenberg is as Fügerberg in 1315. When, after the Napoleonic Wars in 1816 throughout the Zillertal in Tyrol to the Constitution got validity, joining mountain and Pankrazberg merged to form today's community Add mountain.

Since the Middle Ages several centuries was passed searched for mineral resources in the municipality, including for gold and iron ore. The iron ore deposits in the Zillertal valley had become important due to the increased iron demands of the large silver and copper mining operations in Schwaz and Kitzbühel.

Between 1562 and 1760 there were nine tunnels on the southeast flank of the ridge Gratz head and Samjoch in Öxltal as well as on the Schwaz page. The removal took place after crushing in leather bags from 60 to 80 kg, with pack animals and carts to ironworks after Kleinboden (municipality joining). The empty bags were carried up by big dogs again. The production of iron ore amounted annually 200-5000 tons, there were up to 500 men in metallurgical and mining deals. The miners built several chapels and were instrumental in the establishment of the Pancrazio Church.
