Godega di Sant'Urbano

Godega di Urbano is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6130 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Treviso in Veneto. The community is located about 31.5 kilometers north-east of Treviso.

History

The place name derives from Godega the corruption of the Latin word for the tribe of the Goths. For the 13th century, the existence of a well is demonstrated. This was extensively restored in 2004. Around 1420 came the place with its surrounding lands under the rule of Sacile in Friuli- Venezia Giulia, to become part of the Venetian Republic shortly after.

Community partnership

Godega di Urbano has since 2006 partnered with French Municipality of L' Isle-en -Dodon in the Haute- Garonne.
