Gonnostramatza

Gonnostramatza ( Tamariskenhügel ) is an Italian commune in the province of Oristano ( OR) in Sardinia.

Parish Church

In the parish church of the small country church is the altar " Retablo di San Paolo " from 1501, the only signed and dated work of Lorenzo Cavaro Stampace. The signature is: De l'any MDI it pintada feta la dit retaulu by mas de Lores mestal Cavaro de Stampa. Lorenzo and especially his son Pietro Cavaro are considered the founders of the School of Stampace, named after the city district of the capital Cagliari, in which lay their studios. Pietro Cavaro, who worked about 1508-1537, influenced 16th -century painting in Sardinia and is considered by many art critics as the greatest Sardinian painter.

Environment

Southeast, not far from Gonnostramatza, but already in the province of Medio Campidano, located in the vast rural parish church situation of Lunamatrona, the altar " Retablo di Santa Maria ", situated in the first chapel on the right side; probably the work of Antioco Mainas.
