Großobringen

Großobringen is a municipality of the district of Weimar and part of the joint management Nordkreis Weimar in Thuringia.

Location

The road Großobringen village located in the north of the county of Weimar at the Nordostabdachung the Great Etter Mountain and on the southern edge of the Thuringian Basin. Through the community, the federal highway 85 coming from Weimar leads to Kölleda and the end point Kelbra the Federal Highway 38 leading.

History

As early as the Neolithic region was inhabited. Also, the time already on the mountain road leading Etter was the reason for colonization. The finds from the area, especially the earthwork of Großobringen among the cultures of the Middle and Later Stone Age.

The place was first mentioned in 1270 Großobringen in a document of the monastery Heusdorf. In 1367, the village name converts to Grossin upper rings. The medieval land accounted for the most part to the noble family of Obringen. This family is historically provable from 1294 to 1353 and belonged to the ministeriality the Count of Weimar- Orlamünde.

The manor had no own patrimonial and changed hands several times. On April 2, 1680 acquired Friedrich Wilhelm von Harras Großobringen by Philipp Heinrich and Otto Heinrich von Eberstein. The Harras possessed the manor over three generations. Only after a loan legal process in 1778 they were dispossessed by the Duke of Saxe-Weimar- Eisenach and transformed the estate into a ducal Schatullgut.

In 1714 the mansion was destroyed by fire.

The late medieval village church dates from the year 1341st It is composed of a rectangular nave with polygonal closed choir and sacristy cultivation at the northeast corner and a rectangular west tower together. The interior was thoroughly restored in 1934. Here, the built- in 1855 pulpit altar was replaced by a 1755 created pulpit, which dates back to the castle chapel in Schwarzburg.
