Grotteria

Grotteria is an Italian town in the province of Reggio Calabria in Calabria with 3223 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Grotteria is located 107 km northeast of Reggio Calabria on the eastern side of the Serre. The neighboring municipalities are Fabrizia (VV), Galatro, Gioiosa Ionica, Mammola, Marina di Gioiosa Ionica, Martone, San Giovanni di Gerace and Siderno.

Attractions

In the village are the ruins of a medieval castle. In the deanery there are paintings from the 17th century. In the neoclassical church of S. Agazio there is a wooden crucifix from the 17th century.
