Rizziconi

Rizziconi is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7858 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Calabria in Calabria. The community is located about 43 kilometers northeast of Reggio Calabria and about 32 km south-southwest of Vibo Valentia.

Economy and Transport

The region is dominated by agriculture. Historically the district Drosi of interest: Here lies the former Roman settlement Drusium. A gas power plant ( operated by the electricity company Laufenburg ) supplies 760 MW to the grid. The train station of Rizziconi on the narrow gauge railway (950 mm) from Gioia Tauro to Cinquefrondi ( built in 1924 ) is also closed with the track closure in 2011. Through the municipal area leads the Strada Statale 111 di Gioia Tauro e Locri, towards the motorway (A3) and Tyrrhenian Sea and ( east ) to the Ionian Sea.

2001, the council was disbanded because of his links to the 'Ndrangheta.
