San Ferdinando

San Ferdinando is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4269 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Calabria in Calabria. The community is located about 47.5 kilometers northeast of Reggio Calabria and about 25.5 kilometers southwest of Vibo Valentia on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea (Gulf of Gioia Tauro ). In the north the Mesima limits the community.

History

First San Ferdinando was part of the county Borrello. However, the town is more recent, dating back to the Marchese Vito Nunziante. The small settlement was then in 1831 part of the municipality of Rosarno. In 1977, the town was finally on its own.

Traffic

The eastern boundary of the municipality is the Strada Statale 18 Tirrena Inferiore from Naples to Reggio di Calabria.
