The neck is a mountain pass in the Lower Austrian Alps. With a summit altitude of 662 m, it connects the Triestingtal at Pott stone with the Piestingtal at Pernitz. The pass itself bears the name on the neck.
From the neck a forest road leads to Waxeneckhaus.
The road over the neck was created via special initiative by Johann Baptist Ignaz von Waldstätten (1772-1841), District Chief of the district under the Vienna Woods, in the years 1826/27.
