Henry Glaß

Henry Glass ( * February 15, 1953 in Rodewisch ) is a former German ski jumper and today's ski jumping coach.

Career

Glaß is the son of the Nordic combiner Gerhard Glaß and belonged to the SC Dynamo Klingenthal. His greatest successes were the bronze medal in the large hill at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, the bronze medal at the Ski Flying World Championships in 1977, the silver medal in jumping on the normal hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1978 and the 2nd place in the Four Hills Tournament 1971/72.

Henry Glaß was twofold GDR Champion in 1980 and 1981 on the large hill on the normal hill, the runner-up title he won in 1975 and 1980 on the Normal and 1977 on the large hill. A bronze medal he won in the championship of 1973 on the normal hill. His coaches have included Harry Glaß, Jürgen Wolf and Herbert Leonhardt.

Glaß was since the mid 1990s, co- coach of the German national ski jumping. Of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin Glaß from NOK was excluded as a coach, after it was revealed that had Glaß maintain contacts with the Ministry of State Security of the GDR.

Since May 2008 Henry Glaß has worked at State Training Centre in Klingenthal. There, he trains the young jumpers and jumpers from Saxony.
