Herefordshire

Herefordshire [ hɛɹɪfədʃə ] is a county in the West Midlands region of England. Herefordshire borders the counties of Shropshire to the north, Worcestershire to the east, Gloucestershire to the southeast and the Welsh counties of Gwent in the south-west and Powys to the west.

In 1974 the County with the county of Worcestershire had been connected for common county Hereford and Worcester. At the time, the districts of South Herefordshire, Hereford and parts of Malvern Hills and Leominster existed on the territory of the present county.

On 1 April 1998, the administrative reform was reversed and the County in a separate area of a city circle without additional districts ( Unitary Authority) transferred. The official name of the Unitary Authority is the County of Herefordshire.

Herefordshire is a very rural character county that thrives on fruit growing, especially.
