Hinigaran, Negros Occidental

Hinigaran is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Negros Occidental on the island of Negros in the Philippines. It has 81 925 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 24 barangays. It belongs to the first class of income communities in the Philippines and is described as a partially urbanized.

It is located about 54 km south of Bacolod City. The travel time is about one hour and 15 minutes by bus, by car about an hour. Your neighboring municipalities are Pontevedra in the north, Isabela and La Castellana in the east, Binalbagan forms the southern boundary. The coastal region in the west is the Gulf of Panay. The topography of the parish is described as hilly in the east and drops down to the coastal plain.

The Century -old church in Hinigaran was built in the Romanesque style. The Old Convent Church was destroyed in the Second World War and was rebuilt, it now houses a school run by the Augustinian nuns. The Senator Esperidion Guanco bridge has a length of 114 meters and 6 meters wide, was built in 1927. The Mini Rizal Park was built in 1970 in front of the Century -old church and displays sculptures of soldiers of the Second World War.
