Hoffeld

Hoffeld is a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Adenau.

Geography

Hoffeld located in the center of the Eifel as well as within the protected landscape area " Rhein- Ahr -Eifel " at the eastern foot of the castle head ( 500 m above sea level. NN ) with its mountain lake. To Hoffeld part of living space Waldhof. The municipality is bordered on the west by North Rhine -Westphalia. Neighboring municipalities are Müsch in the north, Throws in the east, the south and Trierscheid Dorsel and Blankenheim ( Ahrdorf district ) in the west.

History

The first mention was made in the year 975 from the file of Barweiler and Kirmutscheid of Diözsanarchives Trier shows that 975 of the Trier archdeacon Wicfried the Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier a country hooves handed in " Huffelt ". It is a so-called Prekarievertrag, a trained since the 6th century church law of Landleihe to clergy for their livelihood.

Until a few decades ago there were in Hoffeld larger basalt deposits that were mined. Parish council

The local council in Hoffeld consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Attractions

In the village center, many well-preserved half-timbered houses stand. The Village Museum is housed in one of these houses. Before the local church bought the house mid -1980s, lived there long a family of ten. The exhibition aims to showcase how people used to live in a confined space. Outside the museum there is a well built with columns of basalt farmyard.

The so-called " Feye House", one of the oldest surviving Stone houses of Hoffeld (according to Backes inscription built in 1712 ) stood for 30 years yet. After renovation and remodeling the building is now used as a restaurant.

In the former basalt quarry on the castle head above the village is a small lake with clear water, which is not accessible to the public, is used by a fishing club and is completely fenced.

  • It consists of a white painted brick -faced masonry with a gable roof in truss construction, under a light band is built of exposed concrete. The spire rises 10 meters above the gable, with attached brass ball under a Kreuzspitze 12.80 m high. Roof and tower are covered with artificial slate.
  • The chapel interior has a size of 14.80 x 11.32 m. The height from the floor to the gable peak is 10.80 m. On the floor of a 30 cm high, 3.70 m wide and 7 m long dais is built to stand on the high and main altar.
