Schalkenbach

Schalkenbach in Vinxtbachtal is a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Brohltal, which has its administrative headquarters in Niederzissen.

Geography

The municipality is located in the conservation area " Rhein- Ahr -Eifel ". To Schalkenbach include not only the main town of the districts Untervinxt, Mittelvinxt and Obervinxt and the living space 'estate Schirmau ".

History

Schalkenbach and Vinxt belonged to the part of the rule Landskron, which had the family von der Leyen and Waldbott of Bassenheim and in 1664 the Count Palatine Philip William, Duke of Jülich, against Adendorf and Eckendorf leaving. The two villages belonged to the county since Neuenahr and stood until the late 18th century under the Electoral Palatinate state rule.

As a result of the French Revolutionary Wars, was one of the left bank of the Rhine from 1798 to 1814 for France. Schalkenbach and Vinxt belonged to the Mairie King field in the canton of Weir, who belonged to the district of Bonn in the Rhine -Moselle department.

Cultural monuments
