Geography

Hofstätten an der Raab is located in the district of Weiz at the left hand edge of the terrace Raab valley in the Austrian province of Styria.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the following four localities ( in parentheses population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Hofstätten an der Raab (502 )
  • Pirching an der Raab (270 )
  • Wetzawinkel (449)
  • Wünschendorf ( 838 )

The municipality comprises the cadastral Hofstätten, Pirching, Wetzawinkel and Wünschendorf.

History

1265/67 are named after the founder of the village as well as Dietrichhofstätten Wunscheydorf Pyrcharn, Wetzleinswinchel and farmsteads. Today's church was built in 1968 by the merger of the then independent municipalities Hofstätten, Wetzawinkel and Wünschendorf - Pirching.

Policy

The council is made up after the elections of 2010 as follows: 11 ÖVP, SPÖ 3, 1 Green. Mayor Werner Hoefler (ÖVP ) Vice Mayor Johann Hütter (ÖVP ).

Coat of arms

Coat Description: In a green shield with a silver slant bar links with a red bouncing down squirrels, from the columns farbverwechselt outward four apple leaves, inward five birch leaves growing. The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 July 2001.

Culture and sights

Sports

The Sports Round Wünschendorf - Pirching was founded in 1972 and is the focal point for sports fans of all ages. The official club founded with registration and regulatory approval was granted on 11 July 1997.
