Hohe Marter (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station High Suffering (abbreviated HM) is the 27th Metro Station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn and was opened on 27 September 1986. It is 1317 meters from Röthenbach Metro Station and 684 meters from the Schweinau Metro Station. In the airport there is a X-shaped double track, reversible connects.

The High Suffering is a wayside cross on the Schweinauer main road that marked the former escort boundary between the city of Nuremberg and Ansbach margravate. According to her, a small residential street southeast of the Schweinauer main street is named. Later, the name was transferred to the local southwestern area of the Nuremberg district Schweinau.

Location

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg Schweinau and extends below the ground in north-south direction under the Schweinauer main road between Gustav Adolf / Nopitschstraße and Adalbertstraße. Of two minds platform ramps lead into a distribution of levels. The northern distribution bullet has sunrises to all corners of the intersection Schweinauer main / Gustav -Adolf- / Nopitschstraße, the southern distribution of levels depending on a stairway to Adalbert and Schweinauer main road and two ramps for Rottweiler road and in the adjacent park.

In the vicinity of the station is the Nuremberg television tower.

Building and Architecture

The station building is 268 m long, 15 m wide and 7.2 m deep. Construction began on 14 February 1984 and were carried out in an open design. For the first time the platform accesses were created as ramps ( 8 % slope ), which moved the approaches to the railway station on the former tram stops.

For the station design a competition was announced, the Nuremberg artist Peter Angermann won. Was implemented a custom built by him 1:10 drawing of the Nuremberg television tower as a wall mosaic in day and night mode, for which approximately 120,000 ceramic tiles 9.5 × 9.5 cm were placed in 30 different shades to the platform walls in the format. Another special feature is that the television spiers always point to the front and it was the first Nuremberg U -Bahn station without center supports.

Lines

The station is serviced by the underground lines U2 and U21. Are the stops High Suffering North and South High Suffering, which are served by the city bus lines 35 and 65, as well as from the private bus line 713 to the surface. The weekend also runs Night bus N7.
