Hondschoote ( Dutch: Hondschote ) is a commune with 4091 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Nord, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais.

A certain amount of notoriety she reached through the Battle of Hondschoote on September 8, 1793.

Geography

Hondschoote located 24 kilometers from Dunkerque and 63 km from Lille. The eastern boundary of the municipality is at the same time represents the state's border with Belgium
