Hořice (Pelhřimov District)

Hořice ( German Horschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 24 kilometers south-east of Vlašim on the D1 motorway and is part of the Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Hořice is located on a ridge in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands, between the valley of the creek and the Blažejovický flooded with the drinking water reservoir Švihov Želivkatal. Just north of the village runs the route of the D 1 and on the northeastern outskirts is the motorway exit 75 Hořice. East of Hořice leads the motorway bridge Píšť over the reservoir.

Neighboring towns are Vítonice in the north, and Rachyně Blažejovice in the northeast, Píšť, Vranice and Vojslavice in the east, and Děkančice Hroznětice the southeast, Syrov in the south, Kalná Hať, Šamplice and Chlovy the southwest, Dunice in the West as well as Děkanovice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1352.

The municipality consists of the villages Hořice Děkančice ( Diekanschitz ) Hořice ( Horschitz ) and Hroznětice ( Hrosnietitz ).
