Kathryn O'Loughlin McCarthy

Kathryn Ellen O'Loughlin McCarthy ( born April 24, 1894 with Hays, Ellis County, Kansas; † January 16, 1952 ibid ) was an American politician. Between 1933 and 1935, she represented the sixth electoral district of the state of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Kathryn McCarthy was born in 1894 as Kathryn Ellen O'Loughlin. Following her marriage to Daniel McCarthy took the name Kathryn Ellen O'Loughlin McCarthy. She attended the public schools of their home and completed in 1913, the Hays High School. Then she attended until 1917, the State Teachers ' College. After studying law at the University of Chicago and its made ​​in 1921 Admitted to the bar in Chicago, she began to work in their new profession. In 1928 she returned to Hays, where she also worked as a lawyer.

Politically, she became a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1930 and 1936 she attended with one exception in 1935, all regional party days in Kansas as delegates. In 1931 and 1932 she was a Member of the House of Representatives from Kansas.

In the congressional elections of 1932, McCarthy was selected in the sixth district of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where it succeeded the Republican Charles I.
