Myron V. George

Myron Virgil George ( born January 6, 1900 in Erie, Kansas, † April 11, 1972 in Parsons, Kansas ) was an American politician. Between 1950 and 1959 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Myron George attended the public schools of his home and then the Labette County High School in Altamont. During the First World War, he was a corporal in the U.S. Army. After the end of his military service in May 1919, he made a printing apprenticeship in the newspaper " Altamont Journal," which belonged to his father. Between 1924 and 1941 George was publisher and editor of the newspaper " Edna Sun". From 1939 to 1950 he was also a member of the Kansas Highway Administration ( Highway Commission ).

Politically, George member of the Republican Party. After the death of Congressman Herbert Alton Meyer, he was elected in 1950 in a by-election as his successor in Congress. On the same day the regular midterm elections took place, in which George was elected for the next term of office. After he was conceived in 1954 and 1956 respectively confirmed in 1952, he could remain between November 7, 1950 and January 3, 1959 Congress. In the elections of 1958 he was defeated by Democrats Denver David Hargis.

After the end of his activity in the U.S. House of Representatives, he worked for the transport and construction industry in public relations. Myron George died on 11 April 1972 in Parsons.
