Kimmo Timonen

Kimmo Timonen Samuel ( born March 18, 1975 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. In addition, Timonen shareholder of the Finnish Ice Hockey Club KalPa Kuopio. His younger brother Jussi is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Early in his career played Timonen between 1991 and 1998 in his native Finland for the teams KalPa Kuopio, Turku TPS and HIFK Helsinki. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the tenth round of the 250th point of the Los Angeles Kings.

In 1998 he took the plunge in the National Hockey League, where he played for the farm team of the Nashville Predators, the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League. After a very good performance with the Milwaukee Admirals, he sat down by final and played for the Nashville Predators. Since then, Timonen was in the team a fixed size. As the end of the 2006/07 season sale of the team was decided, there was confusion about the available budget for the following season. Knowing that the extension of the contract would be very difficult with Timonen by the Predators transferred him to the Philadelphia Flyers, who gave him a 37.8 million U.S. dollar six- year contract. Timonen is known for its very good passes and aggressive man coverage.

In 2006 he won the Finnish national team silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Turin. In the 2006/07 season he was team captain of the Nashville Predators. At the Olympic Games in 2014 he won the bronze medal with the Finnish national team.
