Claude Giroux

Claude Giroux ( born January 12, 1988 in Hearst, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.

Career

Claude Giroux began his career in 2004 in the Canadian Junior Football League CJHL Cumberland at the level where he scored 40 points in 48 games. In summer 2005, he moved to the high-class Canadian junior league LHJMQ Olympiques de Gatineau to. Giroux had there a very good start year with 39 goals and 64 assists in 69 games, went with the Olympiques the semi-finals of the playoffs and was elected to the All- Rookie team in the league.

The Olympiques finally won the Coupe du Président as playoff winners and Giroux the Guy Lafleur Trophy as most valuable player of the playoffs and took part in the Memorial Cup finals, but where they failed prematurely.

In autumn 2008, Giroux moved definitively from the juniors to the pros and played in the 2008/ 09 season with the Philadelphia Phantoms 33 games while he played 42 NHL games for the Flyers in the same season. Since the 2009/10 season, he is an integral part of the NHL squad the Flyers.

On October 4, 2012 Claude Giroux signed due to the lockout of the NHL season 2012/13 a contract with the polar bear from Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Since the 2012/13 season, he is captain of the Philadelphia Flyers.
