Sean Couturier

Sean Couturier ( born December 7, 1992, Phoenix, Arizona ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with U.S. citizenship. Since 2011 he plays for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League ( NHL ) on the position of the center. His father Sylvain Couturier played for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League.

Career

Sean Couturier played from 2008 to 2011 for the Drummondville Voltigeurs, who had selected him in the QMJHL Entry Draft in 2008 to second overall position in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In his first year in the QMJHL, he won with his team the Coupe du Président. In the following season, the attacker scored 96 points in 68 games, for which he received the Jean Béliveau Trophy, which is awarded annually to the most successful scorer of the QMJHL. In addition, he was appointed to the Second All- Star Team. In the following play-offs the Voltigeurs dropped out to eventual champion Moncton Wildcats in the semifinals. Following the regular season 2010/11 Couturier was named the most valuable player in the QMJHL with the Michel Brière Trophy.

NHL Entry Draft 2011 Couturier was selected in the first round to eighth position overall by the Philadelphia Flyers. Before the start of season 2011/12 he received an initial contract for three years with the Flyers, who nominated the Canadian- American dual citizen immediately in the NHL squad. In his rookie season the player was invited to the NHL All -Star Game and participated in this event at the Super Skills Competition. Overall graduated Couturier this season 77 games for the Philadelphia Flyers during the regular season, thereby pass him 13 goals and 14 assists. In the following play-offs, he scored on 13 April 2012 at the game, the Flyers against the Pittsburgh Penguins his first hat-trick in the National Hockey League.

Internationally

Sean Couturier took the Canadian national team for the first time at an international tournament at the U20 World Youth Championship 2011. The team won at this tournament after a final defeat against the Russian selection the silver medal.
