Kota Belud

Kota Belud is a town in the Malaysian state of Sabah. Kota Belud is part of the same administrative district (District Kota Belud ) and is located 70 kilometers north of the state capital of Kota Kinabalu. The city is part of the region West Coast Division to which the districts of Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Penampang, Putatan and Papar belong.

Geography

Kota Belud is located in the north of the island of Borneo between Kota Kinabalu and Kudat.

Demography

The population of the city of Kota Belud is 8,392 inhabitants, which consist to a large part of Bajau.

Attractions

Kota Belud is known for its huge tamu, a market that is held every Sunday. Pesta Kaamatan ( Harvest Festival ) and Tamu Besar ( The Central Market ) take place annually. Tamu Besar is one of the most colorful festival of Sabah. The Bajau are dressed on this occasion in their famous colorful robes, sell their handicraft products and show their riding skills.

Policy

Kota Belud is part of the parliamentary constituency " P.169 Kota Belud ." In the parliamentary elections in Malaysia 2013 here won the candidate of the Barisan Nasional coalition government Dato ' Abd Rahman bin Dahlan victory.
