Kyffhäuserland

Kyffhaeuser country is a municipality in the Thuringian Kyffhauserkreis. It was created on 31 December 2012 from the merger of eight municipalities. In Kyffhaeuser Country 4119 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in Kyffhauserkreis. In the north, the boundary of the municipality is also the limit of the Kyffhaeuser circle and the border of Thuringia with Saxony -Anhalt. In the East, the community is bordered by the territory of the city of Bad Franken / Kyffhäuser and to the west of the area of the district town Sondershausen and the City of herring / helmets. In the south the communities Bilzingsleben and Frömmstedt district Sömmerda, the community and the city Trebra Großenehrich and the community Oberbösa adjoin.

With only about 30 inhabitants per square kilometer, the community is one of the most sparsely populated areas of Thuringia. With the Hainleite in the south, the Kyffhaeuser to the east and the west Windleite three low mountain ranges lie in the municipality, whose extensive deciduous forests are still partially closed areas due to previous military use. Largest river in the village is the Wipper, which flows through the four southern districts Hachelbich, Göllingen, Seega and Günserode.

The municipality consists of the villages Badra, Bendeleben, Göllingen, Günserode, Hachelbich, Rottleben, Seega and Steinthaleben, corresponding to the eight former municipalities.

History

The eight municipalities that make Kyffhaeuser country has emerged since the March 8, 1994 did their administrative business together in the administrative community Kyffhaeuser that has been extended with effect from November 29, 1994 at the church Oberbösa. Since 2007, efforts were made to convert the administrative community in a unified community. Policy

Kyffhaeuser country is the legal successor of the eight districts and the administrative community Kyffhaeuser. The seat of the future local government decides the newly elected council. Until the mayor introduction on 1 May 2013, appointed by the municipal supervisory officer directed the administrative work of the community. The mayoral election was held with a participation of 60.2% on 14 April 2013. With 50.8 % of the valid votes cast by the CDU politician Knut Hoffmann was elected. On the same day the council was determined, here, the voter turnout was 59.4 %, while accounting for associations of voters following seats:

Economy and Transport

The community is dominated by agriculture and not also has significant commercial settlements of the industrial or services that are faster off related traffic routes with the adverse situation between mountains.
