La Tour-de-Sçay

La Tour -de- Sçay is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Tour -de- Sçay is located on 291 m, about 22 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village stretches along the edge of a plane, joining to the south of the valley of the Ognon, at the northern foot of Mont Bichoux, one of the extreme north-western mountain ranges of the Jura.

The area of ​​8.82 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the Doubs and Ognon. The northern part of the area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 280 m and is inclined slightly to the north. While the immediate vicinity of the village of arable and meadow land is passed, stretches in the north of the forest area of ​​the Bois de la Bussière from. To the south, the municipality's area extends over a subdivided by several small valley slope on the broad ridge of Mont Bichoux, on the 495 m, the highest peak of La Tour -de- Sçay is achieved. Neighboring communities of La Tour -de- Sçay are Rigney, Germondans and Flagey- Rigney in the north, Cendrey in the east, Villers- Grélot, Pouligney - Lusans and Corcelle - Mieslot in the south and Rignosot in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages La Tour -de- Sçay formed part of the feudal rule Montbozon. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today, La Tour -de- Sçay part of the community association Communauté de communes de la Bussière.

Attractions

The single-nave church of Saint -Pierre -et -Paul was built in 1771 in classic style. Furthermore, La Tour -de- Sçay has a country chapel and Oratory.

Population

With 231 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Tour -de- Sçay one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
