Langwasser Süd (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Long Water South (abbreviation: LS) was opened as a first U -Bahn station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn on 1 March 1972. It is 442 meters from the Community House metro station and terminal station on the U1 line. In the original plans, this metro station had the working title Julius-Leber -Straße. Its present name dates back to its location on the southern edge of the Nuremberg district long water.

Location and infrastructure

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg long water and extends underground to the northwest in northwest-southeast orientation of the intersection Julius-Leber- / Imbusch / Glogau road. The northern steps leads up to Glogau road, which exploiting dividend on the southern platform head east, and lift Julius-Leber- street to the bus stop and to the P R facility. At the railway station, south-east followed by a 285 -meter-long parking and reversing facility.

Building and Architecture

Construction of the station building began in 1967 and were carried out in an open design. The elevator was upgraded in 1984, the north exit in 2006 after stringent fire protection systems for tunnels.

The design of the station as a functional building matches the style of the 1960s. The tiled with ceramic tiles platform walls from the floor to the height of the platform edge gray and then to ceiling white, only the band with the stop name is decorated in blue with white letters. The square ceiling supports are also white tiles.

Lines

The station is serviced by the U1 line and is also the end point. There is a bus stop for the city bus 54 to the surface (long water south - Brunn ) and 59 (long water south - Birnthon - Winkelhaid ). The weekend runs the night bus N4.
