Lantenne-Vertière

Lantenne - Vertière is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lantenne - Vertière situated at an altitude of 240 m above sea level, 6 km north of Saint -Vit and about 18 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon in the north, in the valley of the Ruisseau de Lantenne.

The area of ​​9.88 km ² municipal area includes a section south of the Ognon. The main part of the area is slightly undulating and mainly consisted of arable and meadow land, and there are also some forest areas. From west to east, the landscape is crossed by the valley of the Ruisseau de Lantenne. To the south, the municipality's area extends over the plateau up to the wide Talniederung the Ruisseau de Recologne (also called Ruisseau du Breuil ), which drains to the Ognon. In the far northwest, the terrain rises to heights of Vauboulon. This is one of the north-eastern foothills of the Massif de la Serre. With 311 meters, the highest elevation of Lantenne - Vertière is achieved on the southern slope of the hill.

  • Lantenne (240 m) in the valley of the Ruisseau de Lantenne
  • Vertière (260 m) on the plateau north of the valley of the Ruisseau de Lantenne

Neighboring communities of Lantenne - Vertière are Courchapon and Burgille in the north, and Lavernay Corcelles- Ferrieres in the east, Ferrieres -les -Bois and Mercey -le- Grand in the south and Étrabonne in the West.

History

Is first mentioned in the 12th century Lantenne under the name Lentena. Over time, followed the spellings Lanthene, Lanthena and Lanthenes. From the 12th to the 16th century, the noble family of Lantenne is detected. Later, the village was part of the reign Cordiron, part of the reign Étrabonne. Together with the Franche -Comté Lantenne came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 17th century the brickyard was established, which today is one of the most modern in Europe. Since the time of the French Revolution Lantenne and Vertière formed a double community. Since 2001 Lantenne - Vertière is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du Val Saint- Vitois.

Attractions

The village church of Lantenne originally dates from the 14th century, the ship was largely rebuilt in the 18th century. In the 16th century the castle was built, flanked by two round towers. The old town is characterized by different farmhouses dating from the 17th to the 19th century in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.

Population

With 536 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lantenne - Vertière one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had clearly decreased in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1896 403 people were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lantenne - Vertière was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village.
