Mads Østberg

Mads Østberg ( born October 11, 1987 in Fredrikstad ) is a Norwegian rally driver. He currently drives in the World Rally Championship (WRC ) for the Citroën Total World Rally Team, Abu Dhabi.

Career

At the age of 13 years Mads Østberg rode as a passenger various local rallies to the side of his father Morten Østberg in Norway. In 2004, he sat for the first time at the wheel of a rally car. In 2006 he debuted in the World Rally Championship and drove in three World Cup races a Subaru. In the 2007 World Rally Championship, he played six, and in the 2008 season, seven world championship races.

In May 2009, his co-driver Ole Kristian Unnerud withdrew from the duo. As an interim solution took Østbergs girlfriend Veronica Engan, in Norway a successful co-pilot, the space on the passenger seat.

In the World Rally Championship in 2011, he reached for the season opener in Sweden and the season finale in Wales, each with a second place finish his first podium placements. The first victory celebrated Østberg in the rainy Rally of Portugal, 2012.

In the 2013 season, the Norwegians started in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC of Qatar M-Sport Rally Team. 2014 joined Mads Østberg the French team Citroën World Rally Team.
