Makariv

Makariw (Ukrainian Макарів; Russian Макаров / Makarov, Polish Makarov ) is an urban-type settlement in Ukraine's Kiev Oblast with 10,300 inhabitants ( 2012) and the administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons.

History

The settlement was founded in 1506 has the status of an urban-type settlement since 1956. During the Second World War, the settlement of 10 July 1941 to November 8, 1943 by troops of the Wehrmacht was occupied.

Geography

Makariw located on the banks of the Sdwysch ( Здвиж ), a 145 km long right tributary of the Teteriw. The capital of Kiev is 59 km east of the city. The settlement council community include, in addition to Makariw, nor the villages Kalynivka ( Калинівка ) Fasiwotschka ( Фасівочка ) and Зурівка ( Suriwka ). South of the village runs the highway M 06, which connects Kiev with Zhytomyr.

Rajon

The Rajon Makariw whose administrative center is the place has an area of 1,364 km ² and a population of approximately 37,500 inhabitants. The population density is 28 inhabitants per km ².
