Martín Fiz

Martín Fiz ( Martín Fiz Martín, born March 3, 1963 in Vitoria- Gasteiz ) is a retired Spanish long-distance runner and world champion in the marathon.

Martín Fiz finished in 1982 at the Junior World Championships in Cross Country Place 16 From 1989 to 1995 he participated in the World Cross Country championships, 1990, 1991 and 1995, he won the bronze medal in the team competition. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, he retired in 5000 -meter run as much in advance as described above for the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split and the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo.

In 1997, he won the Lake Biwa Marathon with his personal best of 2:08:05 h in 1999 and 2000 was followed by two more victories in this race.

In 2001 he finished his professional career, after he had occupied eleventh place in 2:17:11 hours at the Madrid Millennium Marathon.

In 2009, he won as a hobby runners for the half marathon competition of Mallorca Marathon. In his honor, since 2003 in his hometown of Martín Fiz Marathon.
