Matt Hendricks

Matthew Hendricks ( born June 17, 1981 in Blaine, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since January 2014 with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Matt Hendricks began his career as a hockey player in the team of the St. Cloud State University, where he was active from 2000 to 2004. Even as a high school player, he had previously been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 2000 when a total of 131 players from the Nashville Predators, but was not under contract.

Instead, the attacker was in the 2003/04 season his debut in professional hockey, as he stood in a game for the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League on the ice. In the following season he was mainly for the Florida Everblades in the ECHL on, but played for the Lowell Lock Monsters in parallel from the AHL. After a year with the Rochester Americans Hendricks received the 2006/07 season a contract with the former Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears. With the Bears, he also reached the finals for the championship in the AHL, but failed with his team in the best- of-seven series with 1:4 to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Then he signed on 9 July 2007 as a free agent contract with the Boston Bruins, then came but only for their AHL farm team Providence Bruins used.

On 24 June 2008, the Bruins gave him in exchange for Johnny Boychuk from the Colorado Avalanche. In the 2008 / 09 season, the Americans scored in 43 games total 29 points scorer for Colorado's AHL farm team, the Lake Erie Monsters. In his rookie year in the National Hockey League, he received 13 penalty minutes in four games. At the beginning of the season 2009/10 Hendricks was appointed to the NHL squad of Colorado.

In July 2013 Hendricks signed a four-year contract worth a total of 7.4 million U.S. dollars at the Nashville Predators. The average annual salary therefore amounts to 1.85 million U.S. dollars. In January 2014 Hendricks was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers, the charges in return Goalie Devan Dubnyk to Nashville.
