Mineral County is a county located in the state of Nevada in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hawthorne.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​9876 square kilometers, of which 146 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Lyon County, Churchill County, Nye County, Esmeralda County and Mono County ( California).

History

Mineral County was founded in 1911 from the northwestern part of Esmeralda County. The county derives its name from its natural soil, which is highly mineralized.
