The Lyon County is a county located in the state of Nevada in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Yerington.

Geography

The county has an area of ​​5222 square kilometers, of which 59 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Douglas County, Carson City, Storey County, Washoe County, Pershing County, Mineral County and Mono County ( California).

History

The Lyon County was one of the nine Gründungscountys 1861. It was named after Nathaniel Lyon, the first general of the Northern States, who was killed in the American Civil War.
