Nye County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nevada. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Tonopah.

History

The Nye County was founded in 1864 and is named after James W. Nye, the governor of Nevada. The administrative headquarters was located in the founding of the county in 1864, first in Ione City. In 1867, then today's ghost town of Belmont was the administrative seat. Since 1905 it is Tonopah.
