Mönchenholzhausen

Mönchenholzhausen is a municipality in the western part of the Weimar area and part of the joint management Gram Metal.

Geography

Mönchenholzhausen located between Weimar and Erfurt on the main road 7 in the Thuringian basin. South affected in the immediate vicinity of the motorway 4 the corridors of the neighboring communities.

History

Mönchenholzhausen 876 was first mentioned. In 1343 it was Moncheholizhausen. The community Mönchenholzhausen consists of the districts Mönchenholzhausen, Eichelborn, Hayn, Obernissa and Sohnstedt. On 19 May 1974, the merger of the five villages was carried out. Documentary first mention of the various districts: 876 Mönchenholzhausen, 1143 Eichelborn 1217 Sohnstedt, 1316 Obernissa, 1322 Hayn.

In the Middle Ages the village belonged (without Eichelborn and Hayn ) to the county Vieselbach.

In Mönchenholzhausen is always three days after the summer solstice, on St. John, a " Grasekönig " led through the village and then plunged into the Vieselbach.
