Moravec (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Moravec ( German Morawetz ) is a municipality with 552 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 km south of Nove Mesto na Moravě in 526 m above sea level. M. in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands and belongs to the Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. By Moravec, the road Velké Meziříčí after Bystřice nad Pernštejnem.

History

The first documented mention of Moravec are from the 1370. Since that time the place was also the seat of a basic rule, initially in the possession of the Lords of Kralic. 1406 acquired the Stankov Olešnice the rule and bought Radkov added. Other owners were Gedeon Olešnice, the families of Vahančice, John of Pernštejna (1487-1548), whose son and grandson Adalbert Vratislav of Pernstein (1530-1582), from 1560 Zdenko Lhotský 1595 and Johann the Elder Munk of Eibenschütz. After the Battle of White Mountain, whose son William Munk, who fought on the side of the rebels, was expropriated.

1624 bought Johann Jacob Graf Magni Morawetz and extended his possessions in Moravia nor the surrounding dominions Mitrau ( Mitrov ) Rosna, Mesiborsch ( Meziboří ), Bukau and Jabloniow ( Jabloňov ). Already in 1630 sold Magni the entire ownership of the Lombard merchant Johann Baptist Bergamesco. 1756 was forced to sell because of indebtedness to Franz Joseph of Toussaint 's family Bergamesco Morawetz. His son Philip, who spent his life in Vienna and thereby squandering his money, an inglorious honor. He was the first to be buried in Vienna II on the orders of Emperor Joseph for saving wood in a coarse linen bag.

Next owner of Morawetz were from 1792 Baron Karl von Seldern 1799 Joseph Alexander Graf Maldeghen and then Anton Friedrich Graf Mitrovský. On April 17, 1825 Castle burned down and the fire also affected the adjacent church. The reconstruction was carried out on two floors, the tower was never rebuilt.

Again, the owners changed frequently to them were Friedrich Graf von Pécs, Princess Louise of Baden, whose daughter Carola 1854-1858 managed the property. 1858 acquired Gabriel Gudenus the castle with the associated large park, the woods and ponds, which passed in 1917 by marriage to the barons of Nadherny Borutin on Adersbach.

1907 established the baker Kaspar Dunda a sanatorium for water cures along the lines of Sebastian Kneipp.

During the German occupation Jiří Nádherný was in contact with persons of resistance, especially with Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg. 1946 Jiří Nádherný was expropriated as German owners by the Beneš decrees and tracked. He received refuge in Karasín and went into exile after. After the expropriation in the castle was a rest home, from 1947 to 1949 for operation in the Czechoslovak Red Cross, a children's convalescent home. On October 1, 1949, the castle became property of the state and served until 1995, various social purposes. The building structure has been greatly neglected. Since 1996, the Moravian Museum Brno uses the building for exhibitions.
