Münsterhausen is a market in the Swabian town, belonging to the Planning Region Donau-Iller district of Günzburg and a member of the administrative community Thannhausen.

Geography

Münsterhausen is in the Mindel on the eastern edge of the natural environment of the Lower Iller- Lech- gravel boards. Just as Münsterhausen, which is rather on the eastern edge of the Mindel, are the two districts Hagen Ried and Obernhagen Ried on the western edge of the wide valley. East of the Mindel nature of space begins " Perennial plate ", or " co plates and Stauffenberg area ", which form the natural park Augsburg Western Woods. The two districts are already Reichert Ried and Häuserhof in this natural space.

History

The first certain mention of today's cathedral Stockhausen dated from the year 1384. It is the possession of the kingdom pin Ursberg documentary confirmed. The rule in the formerly independent places Münster and Hausen belonged to the Margraviate of Burgau. From the year 1433 the villages were in often changing feudal conditions. Münsterhausen in 1580 brought to the market and became the seat of the Bishopric of Augsburg Pflegamts. From 1660 to the barons held the lordship of Heidenheim until its extinction in 1789. With the Imperial Diet of 1803, which places came to Bavaria. Today's church was built in 1818 from the formerly independent places Münster and Stockhausen.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1978, the formerly independent communities Hagen Ried and Obernhagen Ried were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Edelstetten were added at that time with less than 25 inhabitants.
