Netherlands Public Broadcasting

The Nederlandse Omroep Publieke ( NPO ) is the system of public broadcasting in the Netherlands with headquarters in Hilversum. He runs the TV channel Nederland 1, Nederland 2, Nederland 3, the radio stations Radio 1, Radio 2, 3FM, Radio 4, Radio 5, Radio 6, FunX as well as the international broadcasting BVN in cooperation with the Vlaamse Radio -en Televisieomroep. On 15 March 2007, the Publieke Omroep in NPO ( Nederlandse Omroep Publieke ) has been renamed.

The Dutch public television is unique in its structure compared to other countries.

The stations are similarly supplied to the First German Television by various broadcasting companies. So the Publieke Omroep not produce itself, but radiates the transmissions of broadcasters from. In contrast to the German broadcasters are not these regional institutions, but companies that represent a specific population and have a certain underlying trend. They are often caught in the legal form of an association or a foundation. So some stations represent religious communities, others represented, for example, trade union goals. The Framework Programme Nederlandse Omroep Stichting provide (NOS ) and the NTR. While NOS has the provision of news, sport and general information as a statutory mandate, the focus of the NTR are the areas of information, education and culture.

The main broadcasters

The main broadcasters are all teams with members who pay a membership fee. From the number of members depends on how much money a single broadcasting company receives from the Dutch government and from the total advertising revenue of Publieke Omroep.

Framework Programme

The NPO has two channels for its program. These transmitters have both no members and their tasks are laid down by law.

2:42 - omroepen

The 2.42 - omroepen are organizations without members. Their existence is governed by the Article 2:42 of the Dutch Media Act, which the name came about.
