Odintsovo

Odintsovo (Russian Одинцово ) is a town in Russia, the Moscow Oblast with 138 930 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). It is located six kilometers west of the city limits of Moscow, close to the highway M1 and on the railway line Moscow -Minsk -Warsaw.

History

The village Odintsovo was known since 1627. The expansion began in 1870, the railway line Moscow - Smolensk, the village was a boom, which continued by its popularity as a resort for the people of Moscow. In the aftermath Odintsovo was a popular residential suburb of the capital. In 1957, the city rights were bestowed upon him.

Attractions

In Odintsovo there is a church ( Grebnewskaja Tserkov ) from the year 1802. More striking buildings in the city are the station building from the late 19th century, and was built in 1887 former brickworks, in the Heritage Museum is located today.
