Píšť (Pelhřimov District)

Píšť ( German Pischt ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 19 km north of Pelhřimov at the D1 motorway and is part of the Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Píšť is on the left side of the flooded with the drinking water reservoir Švihov Želivkatals on a ridge in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. To the north lies above the valley of the creek Blažejovický Hrušovec hill ( 483 m ) west of the highway 75 Hořice, in the south the highway bridge Píšť leads over the reservoir.

Neighboring towns are Blažejovice in the north, Vranice in the northeast, and Mesnik Hojanovice in the east, in the southeast Vojslavice, Hroznětice in the south, Hořice the southwest, Rachyně in the west and Vítonice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1352.

In June 1972, the construction of the highway bridge Píšť started since the flooding of the valley of Želivka by the dam Švihov imminent. In 1979, the bridge was opened to traffic.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Píšť Píšť ( Pischt ) and Vranice ( Wranitz ).
