Pont-sur-l'Ognon

Pont -sur- l'Ognon is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pont -sur- l'Ognon situated at an altitude of 255 m above sea level, 5 km south-west of Villers Exel and about 20 km southeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located on the western edge of the plain of Villers Exel, on a bridge over the Ognon, at the edge of the heights between the river valleys of Ognon and Doubs.

The area of ​​4.16 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plains at Villers Exel. The northern boundary runs mostly along the Ognon flowing here with numerous meanders through a wide valley to the west. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the alluvial plain, which is on average 260 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. Further south, followed by a slightly undulating landscape, and on a hill in the Bois derrière la Côte is the highest elevation of Pont- sur- l'Ognon is achieved with 315 m. To the east of the municipality extends to the bottom of the Talung Bief d' Auta, a left tributary of the Ognon.

Neighboring communities of Pont- sur- l'Ognon are Esprels and Autrey- le- Vay in the north, Les Magny and Cubry in the east, Cubrial, Rougemont and Bonnal in the south and Chassey -lès- Montbozon in the West.

History

Pont -sur- l'Ognon was founded in 1211 by the Prior of Marast at the crossing over the Ognon. It belonged in the subsequent period to Marast and shared his fate. Together with the Franche -Comté reached Pont -sur- l'Ognon with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Early on, sat down at the Ognon trade down, which was dependent on hydropower. The brothers founded Jacquinot 1548 forging. In the 19th century the metalworking industry and a brick dominated the economic life of the village. Since 2000, Pont -sur- l'Ognon is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

The village church of Pont- sur- l'Ognon was rebuilt in 1764. For notable appointments include a statue of St. Peter (16th century) and furnishings from the 18th century. From the 17th century seat of power comes from ( now privately owned ) with two square towers. The building of the Mairie ( Municipal House ) was built in 1883.

Population

With 57 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Pont -sur- l'Ognon one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881, 109 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Pont -sur- l'Ognon was early An industrial site. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Esprels after Cubrial. Further road links exist with Bonnal and Les Magny.

The community possessed by the year 1959 on the railway line Montbozon -Lure a breakpoint. The municipal area is partially, since December 2011, crossed by the LGV Rhin -Rhône.
